How might we make our public spaces safer.
In an age of increasing threats, from everyday workplace hazards to large-scale emergencies, organizations are under pressure to protect their people like never before. But most safety systems remain fragmented, reactive, and painfully outdated.
Firefly set out to change that.
Ember is Firefly’s cloud-native safety platform: a powerful fusion of AI, IoT, and real-time 3D mapping that transforms how organizations sense, respond to, and manage risk. From daily operations to critical incidents, Ember brings total situational awareness to your fingertips.
As the design lead on this project, I helped shape the system that now gives first responders, security teams, and enterprises a smarter, faster way to act when every second counts.
This case study shows how we built Ember—from high-level strategy to interface design—and what it means to design for urgency, clarity, and life-saving speed.
Step 3: Supporting the entire workplace
Organizations are dynamic places. People are coming and going constantly, so we need to build a product that can adapt to a variety of situations and work at all scales to keep people and property safe. To do that we designed Verkada Workplace, a tool help organizations safe and organized.
